Exercise Does the Mind and Body Good
We all know that exercise keeps our bodies healthy, but it can also keep our brains in good shape as well. A study that followed 20,000 healthy adults from mid-life until after age 65 found that those who were the most physically fit reduced their risks for Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia compared to those who were the least fit. It is known that exercise can raise “good” and lower “bad” cholesterol along with strengthening the cardio respiratory system. All of this helps both your heart and mind.
Exercise may not be the only factor that contributes to this finding. People who focus on their fitness often also have healthier lifestyles, which include proper nutrition and refraining from smoking. It is never too late to start picking up these beneficial habits for your body and mind’s sake.
