Workout Wednesday Tip: Avoid Thoughtless Eating.

  • Keep visual reminders of how much you’re eating. Keep wrappers, empty containers and other reminders of how much you’ve eaten nearby.
  • Do not eat in front of the television, computer, or while driving. When you eat, focus on the food and listen to your body telling you when it is getting full.
  • Be aware of the size and shape of containers. It’s the amount of food that counts, not what it looks like.
  • Use smaller plates and bowls. When you are using a smaller plate, you will be more thoughtful as to what you put on it and it is more likely that cutting the plate size in half will cut the calories in half as well.
  • Read nutrition labels, paying attention to the serving size listed. Consider the facts; don’t try to guess how many calories you’re eating.
  • Control your impulse purchases. Don’t let a special deal encourage you to buy more than you need. Super sizing your meal for that extra 99 cents isn’t doing your body any favors.
